Tuesday before Christmas break, I got a phone call from the kids preschool saying that Carson put a bead up his nose and he would probably have to go to the doctor to get it out. My first reaction (and Dewey’s) was to laugh. Seriously? So, the dork that I am, I’m going to write up what his lab notebook would look like…or what his lab notebook would look like since he is only three and a half.

Bead up the Nose Lab
Problem: Will a blue {because that is my favorite color} bead fit in my nose?
Hypothesis: I think that a blue bead will fit up my nose. I want to do it “for my teacher” and “because blue is my favorite color”.
Materials: blue bead, index finger, and nose.
Procedure:
1. Pick out your favorite color of bead and insert it into your nose with your index finger. Try to get it out by blowing into a tissue {with the help of your teacher of course}.
2. Call your mommy and have her bring you to her school to see if the school nurse can remove it. The nurse will then tell your mommy to hold the side of your nose that does not have the bead in it and blow really hard into your mouth…trying to get the bead out of your nose. But when she does this, only snot or boogers really yucky stuff will come out and go all over her face. {This is really funny!}
3. Go to the pediatrician’s office and show them your art project for the day. If you are lucky, they will send you to the ENT office because you have done such a great job at pushing the bead soooo far up your nose.
4. Go to the ENT, and have him remove the bead. Here, they will put cotton in your nose with some really cold medicine on it to numb the inside of your nose. {That is really cool, because you look like a football player.} Then the ENT will place an expander up your nose and pull the bead out.
Conclusion: I can put a bead up my nose! But mommy and daddy say that this one cost so much, that I should not do this again.
Mommy was so proud of my art project that day, she has saved it and placed it on her key chain and she said that she paid ALOT of money for it, so she wants to keep it.
See…
