2008 in Review

We have been very blessed this year and had are very grateful for a wonderful year! 2008 brought a first birthday, a trip to the beach, a state football title, great holidays, and fun times with friends. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from this year. We hope you had a great year and we wish you the best in 2009! Happy New Year!

Christmas Morning

I hope Santa fulfilled all of your wished, because I know he did at our house. Sarah got skates, a jamming keyboard, a computer, blue shoes (specifically asked for), and barbies galore! Carson got a computer, shoes, a firetruck, a basketball hoop, and books. And some other stuff too, but those are the biggies. Santa was also good to mommy and daddy. We will be going to the Cotton Bowl and the kids will now be able to watch movies in the car. A big shout out to Santa...thank you!! Oh yeah, Carson loved the sweet potatoes so much on Christmas Eve, he saved some for later, on his shirt!! :)

We are the Champions My Friends...

...as sung by Queen. The Allen Eagles WON the state tile for 5A Division 1 Football. Go Eagles! We had so much fun cheering on the boys in blue and daddy, as one of the coaches, on Saturday Evening. Congrats to everyone who was involved...especially the players!

Christmas Program

Sarah had her Christmas program tonight and it was so much fun! Her class sang Santa Clause is coming to town and a Hanuka song. We were there with our camera to cheer her on. Her teacher told us earlier this week that she was in the middle because she knew all the words to both songs and she had some pretty cool dance moves, but she had a case of stage fright and didn't dance, but sang her little heart out. I think she is ready for Santa Clause to come to town!

She is unsure of all the people, but scanning the crowd making sure that mommy, daddy, and grandparents are there.

Counting one of our many blessings

Here is Carson and his crew. Their leader (can you pick her out?) is an angel and knows Carson as well, if not better, than I do. I tell her often that I will take my 26 5th graders over her crew any day! I have no idea how she does it and she is excellent at it! Carson loves going to her house and playing with his friend. His girlfriend is in the pink looking his way and his best friend is in the orange. Carson told me tonight that he is blessed to have them all in his life!

Coincidentally, Carson and his best friend just happened to be Yoda for Halloween. So cute!

A fun, unexpected, day off!

Yesterday, school was cancelled due to the icy roads. So, we decided to be lazy and make cookies. Sarah wanted to help me in making them but I wanted to make sure that they were "just right". So I decided to give her the cookies that didn't come out of the oven "perfect", icing, and some decorations and let her go to town (totally expecting a mess!). As I was trying to make the reindeer just right, I heard her say, "Mommy...look I made an elf!" I turned around to see a huge smile on her face holding up her creation. It was in that moment that I realized that just because she didn't make her cookies to my standards, her cookies were "just right" and "perfect". Also, she was proud of herself and she felt a sense of accomplishment. I'm so proud of her too, impressed with her icing skills, and enjoy eating the elves remembering her smile and sense of pride over my silly reindeer! I also learned that my definition of "just right" doesn't always have to be!! Good Job Sarah!

State in '08!!!

In Sarah's words, "Go Allen, Go Allen!" Allen won the semi-final game today to head to the state game in Houston. I am so proud of our "Boys in Blue" and my husband for their hard work! Here are some celebration pictures!
