Christmas Traditions/Decorations I love…

I love Christmas time!  I love decorating the house and seeing the joy in the kids faces this year made it that much better.  It was very heartwarming.  Here are some Christmas traditions/decorations that I love….

1.  Coca-Cola Santa Snow Globe…when you wind him up, he sings and the train goes around in circles at the bottom.  A friend of mine gave this to me right after I started my Snow Globe collecting.  With the kids being young, I don’t take out all of my snow globes, but I do get out a few out.  Carson loves the train (see post below).

2.  Santa Snow Globe and My Stocking…I love the decorations on my back room coffee table.  The snow globe is heavy enough…I’m teaching the kids the “do not touch even though it is within your reach” lesson and praying that it doesn’t get broken..   that I don’t think that the kids can pick it up.  But it is another one of “my most favorite ever” (because that is correct grammar) snow globes!  If you look under the table, you will also see the stocking that my grandmother sewed for me when I was a baby.  I love having that stocking in my house and glad that my parent’s gave it to me a couple of years ago.

3.  Family Christmas Cards from years past and other pictures…Every year, we get out our Christmas cards from years past and put them on this board.  There have been other pictures of the kids that I have collected and added to this board too.  It sits in the back room and I love to see how the our family has changed and how the kids have grown over the years.  I plan on adding to this every year and it becomes more special to me with every card that is added.

4.   Decorating the tree with my favorite ornaments…just to name a few…Our first Christmas, Sarah’s Nutcracker, and Carson’s truck.

5. The Nutcracker and Frosty…The nutcracker we bought two years ago when Sarah went to her first Nutcracker performance.  This year she is in it as a Snow Angel.  We love the Nutcracker!  And the kids love playing with Frosty.

6.  Friend’s Christmas cards go here…I made this card hanger last year and it hangs in the kitchen on our laundry room door.  The clips at the top are waiting for other’s cards….December is the only month that I race to the mailbox every day!  I stole this idea from Team Carroll

7. Nativity Sets…the kids have one and I have one.  They both sing and the kids love playing with them.  Since mine is not breakable, I let them play with mine, too.  I love overhearing them talking about the true meaning of Christmas as they play!

8.  The Elf on The Shelf…I love her and she is a great reminder to us all (during this crazy and busy, but fun month) to be kind because she reports all behavior…naughty or nice…to Santa on a nightly basis.  This is the first year that Carson has really gotten what she is about, but the day after Thanksgiving (when she came to our house) she was in a spot where the kids could reach and Carson made it to her first, before everyone else.  He proceeded to grab her, walked back into our bedroom and said, “What is this and why is it here?  Who put it here?”  Sarah promptly panicked and told him, “You can’t touch her, she will loose her magic!” and had a meltdown in the middle of the hallway.   She thought the Elf on the Shelf lost her magic and could not fly anymore because Carson touched her.

9.  Outside Decorations…I got the cute reindeer in Canton and the Santa hat is a Hobby Lobby after Christmas find that I got a couple of years ago.  The wreath that hangs on our door, I made last year (another idea I stole from Team Carroll) and I love it!  And of course we have a little yard art…:)

10.Our Texas Tech Tree sits upstairs (on an empty coffee table) in front of the window.  It has kind of become our “A Christmas Story Leg Lamp”.  Yes it has red lights and yes I think that everyone in the neighborhood can see it…but truth be told, I love it!  Texas Tech makes a Christmas Ornament every year and we bought a little tree just for them.  Our Tech Santa that sits next to it.

If you can’t tell…I love…Christmas Decorations and I would have them up all year long if Dewey would allow it.
