So I have totally been obsessed been coming home everyday from school to check on Baby Stellan. You see at 24 weeks gestation, Stellan's parents were told that their very ill baby would not live and he is now 5 months old! Five weeks ago, he was hospitalized and last Tuesday, he had to have very risky surgery on his heart in Boston (they live in Minnesota). MckMama (his mom) has been blogging about everything and it seems that every blog I visit has his button on it, including mine. Everyone is pulling for this little man. It is amazing how someone can affect my thoughts and prayers and I haven't even meet them. I have read several blogs whose babies are sick and they have not touched me the way Stellan's story has. You see, MckMama is so real and transparent. Her strength, faith, and perseverance is unreal!! She has taught me not to sweat the small things and that the things I thought were big are really little. I have always felt blessed and grateful for my fabulous husband and kids, but because of her story, this week I have stepped back a bit and been that much more grateful!

Thank you MckMama for setting a stellar example for us all. Still praying for you and Stellan...

So Dewey had a baseball game tonight and I thought that since we have been to like two of his games, the kids and I would go. Of course my kids were perfect angels, but I saw this one mom whose babies were going CRAZY and they were totally unruly!!!

Carson...I mean the boy...immediately gravitated to the gigantic hole that was in the ground where they were fixing the sprinkler system. And just happened to be right next to the fence. And just happened to be half on his side of the fence and half on the other side of the fence. {I 'm sure his mom was thinking...Note to the maintenance man: don't leave an open whole with out some barrier when you know that children are going to be coming around!}. After scaling the boy out of the gigantic hole and trying to keep him on her side of the fence, she realized that Sarah...oh I mean her daughter...was no where in sight so she frantically looked for her and some sweet baseball mom comes around the corner with her. Once she had both kids in sight, she headed toward the concession stand. {Again her thoughts I'm sure were...Finally some down time...even if it is 2 minutes}. On their way to the concession stand, the daughter decided that she was going to climb under the bleachers and scale them. While trying to get her daughter out from under there, and not releasing her son, or bumping his head, I heard the daughter say that she needed to go to the bathroom. They quickly bought hot dogs, and the mom found that sweet baseball mom again and ask her if she would mind watching her son and the hot dogs. I then hear from the bathroom, the daughter screaming that her pants/underwear were wet. {Again the mom was probably thinking...Are you kidding me?} I guess the mom didn't have a change of clothes and decided that the girls pants would dry. They came out of the bathroom and the daughter's pants were like half wet. So we... I mean they sat, and ate, for like 3 minutes. Now that her kids had something in their tummies, off they went. The boy goes one way...toward the area where the baseball kids are warming up the next pitcher...and the daughter heads the other direction back towards the gigantic hole. After she corralled both of them...she thought it would be a good idea to hold the boy instead of playing his "game". I don't know that that was a good idea because the boy SCREAMED his head off for the rest of the game. {Niiiicccceeee} And the daughter continued to run around CRAZY! By this time I'm sure that she wanted to crawl into the gigantic hole that her kids were playing in. I started to think...is this mom going to take her kids home or try to make it to the end of the game? But it was the bottom of the 7th and the game is almost over...she decided to stay.

When the game ended, one of the dads {of all people, not even a mom} went up to her and said, "I bet you are ready for your husband to get home so that you can get a break". She smiled nicely and say (through her teeth) "No...We are having fun!" and kind of blew him off. Then as they were trying to say bye to the coach (the kids daddy) one of the other dads said to her, "Just wait until you have 13 year old issues to deal with." {Again, her thoughts were...really not the time!!!}

I felt really bad for her and was really glad that my kids sat nicely in the stands. I bet she sleeps well tonight!!!

Hello Perspective!!
So now I'm thankful that...
~My kids can run because they have healthy legs.
~My kids can laugh because they are up and running and not laying in a hospital bed.
~My kids can scream because they have healthy lungs.
~My kids can tell me what they want because that means that they are becoming independent.
~My kids are just plain healthy because so many babies are not!
~My kids can play in the gigantic hole and get their clothes and bodies dirty because that means that I have a washer/dryer and warm bath water.
~I'm healthy to run after them and keep up with them!

***If you were at the game tonight...please erase all of your thoughts and images of me because I am sure that someone is making up a bad mommy award for my performance tonight!! And I'm sure it is probably one of the dads!!!

I love Easter! It is a time for renewal and celebration! He is ALIVE and I'm grateful for his grace! Here are some pictures of our celebration... I hope everyone had a happy Easter!

Sarah's New Big Girl Bed

We decided to get Sarah a big, big girl bed and here it is. I think she likes it! Dewey went to pick it up and we went to Target to get her bedding. She found the butterfly pillow and loved it! She wanted the butterfly bedding, but it only came in twin, so we picked the next best thing that matched...polka dots! She has grown up so fast and I can't believe that she is in a big bed so that her brother can get her toddler bed. WOW...time really does fly! And I'm soaking up/loving every minute of it!

I think she is excited. Dewey wanted her to stay out of her room until he had it all set up. Here is her expression.

Bluebonnets for as far as the eyes can see!

So we found this HUGE bluebonnet field, thanks to my friend Vanessa, in Richardson. If you are looking for some fun spring pictures with the kids, go to this field. It is located just south of Renner Road and Shiloh in Richardson. We had a blast and the kids loved running in the field. It was a little windy, but not too cold. And the best thing was that we didn't see any ant piles in the bluebonnets and there were no bees! Added bonus...we were headed to see the Easter Bunny and the kids were in their Easter outfits! What great fun!

Please do not arrest my daughter for picking the state flower. I forgot to talk to her about that, but the pure joy in her face in the picture is worth getting arrested for or paying a fine! Bring it on Mr. Policeman! :)

Easter Bunny 2009

We went to visit the Easter Bunny this afternoon. Sarah warmed up to him nicely and well, Carson not so much. But it is an improvement from Santa's visit in December. Happy Early Easter!

All is quiet in the house...and car.

Carson and Sarah have loved getting up on the weekends, staying in their pjs and getting into mischief. So when the house was really quiet, I went looking for them after I had put the cinnamon rolls in the oven. I was afraid of what I was going to find, but relieved when I saw this...such sweet siblings!

After we ate breakfast, we got dressed to hit the road to run some errands. The kids got really quiet, so I looked in the backseat and discovered that Sarah had turned into a princess. When I asked her what she was doing she looked at me like I had interrupted important "princess" business. Sorry Sarah!! :)
