Taos

This year for Christmas, my parents took us snow skiing.  As a kid, my family went skiing every year and it was neat to be able to see Sarah and Carson ski with my parents.  The mountains hold great memories for me as a kid and I’m glad that Sarah and Carson now have memories of skiing with their Pops and Grammy!

On our way to the mountains, we stopped at the Big Texan in Amarillo.  We didn’t attempt to eat the {free if you ate it in an hour} 72 oz. steak, but it was a fun restaurant.

Hanging out and enjoying the scenery!

Snow Angel…

Proof that we are not too old for this sport!  If I can be 65 and 67 years young on the mountain snow skiing, like my parents…life is good!  :)

Some of Dew and I…

The kids did great in ski school in the mornings and then skied with us in the afternoons.  On their first day of lessons, Carson stood in awe of his surroundings.  His ski instructor told us that he was more interested in looking around than learning how to ski.  heehee…  She understood, after we told her that this was his first time to the mountains and that he has never seen this much snow…being from Texas and all.

Carson’s way of stopping…doing a complete 180.  Very inventive!

By the end of our trip…they were pros!!!

Our attempt at a family photo…

Holland Christmas

This weekend, we went to Oklahoma for my family’s Christmas.  We visited with cousins, ate, and opened presents.  Santa even came to see us.

Santa’s Village

Last Thursday, we went to Santa’s Village and the kids got to walk in Santa (Thanks to our friend Mrs. Abby).  The kids had fun walking him in and walking around the village.  Carson loved the firemen and Sarah loved Mrs. Clause.  They both got their Rudolph nose and we all enjoyed our evening.

We even ran into our friends!

Santa Pictures 2010

The Official Picture with Santa…Carson is not crying (as he has been for the past two years) and he actually talked to him this year.  Sarah is all about Santa too…it is funny to hear her talking to Carson about Santa.  She looks soooo grown up in this picture to me.

The Unofficial Picture with Santa…from Santa’s Village in Richardson.

Stay tuned for my post about Santa’s Village.  The kids got to escort Santa in and be the first ones to take their pictures with him tonight… courtesy of our friend Ms. Abby (Dewey’s boss from College).

Sarah was an Angel…

…in the Nutcracker and she had a blast!  Last week, we were running crazy between school, Nutcracker practice, Nutcracker dress rehearsal, and performances!  Sarah did a great job as an angel.  She loved that she got to go onto the big stage and see Clara in her “beautiful outfit!” four times.  She did great for all four performances and the whole thing was a great experience, but I was glad to see Sunday afternoon!  Her favorite part was “puttin’ on the make up” and her outfit.  Clara even gave the angels cookies for the final performance.

My favorite picture of the weekend…
