Right after lunch today, I got a call from Stephanie, the angel who keeps Carson, telling me that he was sick and we needed to pick him up. Dewey went to pick him up, I came home, Dewey left for baseball, and I called my friend to see if she could help me out with Sarah.
Mater blanket makes everyone fell better!!!
Sarah’s school had a Chinese New Year Celebration this evening and we were responsible for brining the food. My friend, Katie, and I had planned all week to be there and eat dinner. I called her to see if she could celebrate with Sarah and bring her home, as I was home with Carson who was sick. {I started to call grandparents, but knew they were working.} Without hesitation, she said yes and stepped up to the plate. When Sarah got home, this was our conversation.
Sarah: “Mommy, I’m on blue today!”
Me: “That’s great honey! How was your celebration?”
Sarah: “It was great. Carson couldn’t be there because he is sick?” {She was asking a question instead of stating a fact}
Me: “Yes, he has a stomach bug".”
Sarah: “Is it a spider bug?”
Me: “No baby, he is sick. He doesn’t have a real bug in his tummy.”
Sarah: “Oh, is it a grasshopper bug?”
{I knew she was thinking of the book…I know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly}
Me: No, not a real bug. He is sick and he just needs to rest.”
Sarah: “Oh”
I hope this {spider or grasshopper} stomach bug doesn’t hang around the house long. And I’m all for sharing…except for this time.
